Gator Country

Early Spanish called them Lizards (Lagarto). Unchanged in 200 million years. Can grow to 19 feet long and weigh as much as 1000 lbs, and can live 50 years. This photo was shot at a river in Southern Florida, where the gator is king. They are protected and even if they eat your dog, you can't do anything about it. Wives are a different story.
